Scientists have developed the new MASER - "Microwave Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation" beams which are easy to produce and use. The Laser which we use now is a collection of same beam of light. It gains the maximum energy when it concentrates on a point. So it is mainly used for Surgical and welding purposes.
MASER is almost similar to LASER except that it is in Microwave field.MASER was developed far before the invention of LASER and the instrument to develop this beam was introduced in 1953. But it required very high magnetic field and a cooling system to reduce the temperature as a result of which it gained less popularity.
Now scientists have introduced the technology to develop MASER at atmospheric temperature itself. It does require the very high magnetic field also. MASER can pierce the human body unlike LASER so it will have great use in Scanners.
The scientists of National Physical Laboratory and London Imperial College are behind this discovery. This new information was given to the world by the Nature Magazine.
